Company History & Timeline
Origins (2007-2016)
CloudRent's story begins with its founder Ron Neville, a professional musician performing in pubs and clubs along the East Coast of Australia. Around 2007, Ron developed a small software application to track his own performance bookings (gigs) across New South Wales and Queensland.
A close friend who toured bands nationally mentioned he was still using Word and Excel to manage artists. Ron expanded his booking and invoicing program into a product called AgencyEzy, which was sold to entertainment agencies in the UK and Australia.
One of AgencyEzy's clients not only booked entertainment acts but also hired corporate games to the corporate sector. This crossover sparked the idea to adapt the software for the broader hire and rental industry.
CloudRent Founded (2017)
In 2017, Ron formally founded CloudRent PTY LTD, pivoting from entertainment booking software into a purpose-built rental management platform. The application was built from the ground up using modern web technologies including SQL, JavaScript, and JSON.
A group of rental professionals from the events, temporary fencing, audio-visual, party hire, tool hire, and heavy machinery sectors collaborated on the development, contributing real-world industry expertise to shape the product.
