Result Categories
Results are grouped by type (Customers, Rentals, Equipment, etc.) so you can quickly identify what you're looking for. Each result shows:
Icon — Indicates the record type
Primary text — Name or number
Secondary text — Additional context (status, company, etc.)
💡
Tip: The most relevant results appear first. If you're looking for a specific type, add a keyword like "rental" or "invoice" to your search.
Search Tips
🎯 Be Specific
Searching "John" returns all Johns. Searching "John Smith" or "John 0412" narrows results quickly.
📝 Partial Matches Work
You don't need the full name. "Exc" finds "Excavator", "042" finds phone numbers containing 042.
💰 Use Reference Numbers
Know the rental number or invoice number? Search it directly for instant access.
📂 Recent Items Appear First
Items you've recently viewed are prioritised in search results.

Troubleshooting
Not Finding What You're Looking For?
Check spelling — Try alternative spellings or partial matches
Search by different fields — Try phone number instead of name
Clear and retry — Sometimes starting fresh helps
Check filters — Make sure you haven't filtered out the record type
Search Feels Slow?
Search results appear as you type with a small delay to prevent excessive queries. This is normal behaviour and keeps the system responsive.
